In 2009, we were chosen by the University of Idaho's research scientist, Dr. Danny L, Barney, to help complete his work of domesticating the Haskap berry. His goal, and ours, was to select big berries that would have great flavor and be easy to maintain and pick. We also wanted to have fruit that could be grown organically, without the use of any pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. Our plants have to withstand harsh winters, strong winds, standing water and be drought resistant. We have varieities that have passed all the tests and have come through with flying colors!
Legacy Farms is a propagation nursery specializing in Lonicera caerulea (Haskaps) for the wholesale and retail trade. All of our breeding stock originated from the University of Idaho's research station in Sandpoint, Idaho. We have carefully selected varieties for their plant vigor and berry production.
All of our varieties are trademarked under the name BonnerBlue™ and are license protected.
